Why I Wrote A Lova' Like No Otha'
"I became saved when I was in the fifth grade. However, I
didn't allow God to become Lord of my life until I was out of college.
I loved growing in the word of God through bible study groups,
my quiet time, Sunday sermons and reading great Christian non-fiction
books. As my walk with God grew stronger I tried to eliminate every
weak area in my life. That's when I realized my reading secular
novels for their juiciness and passion wasn't helping me in my
walk with the Lord.
God led me to the Christian bookstore and I was introduced to
a section I'd never seen before, an aisle called Christian fiction.
There must have been over 100 titles, but not one on the shelf
in the late 90's had an African-American lead character. I felt
called to change that unfortunate fact.
With the Lord's help and my determination, I wanted to write a
book that could speak to the heart of a black Christian. A real
page turner was what I strived to write with all the struggles
that an unmarried person could attest to, but a book with all the
hope a believer needed to keep feeding to his or her soul. A Lova'
Like No Otha' is a book that I'm so proud of because the message
is one that speaks to my own heart everyday. The book basically
says 'When God is the center of a person's life, there can be a
happy ending!'"
